Frequently asked questions.

What is Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples?

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is a research-backed approach that helps couples identify and change negative patterns in their relationship. Instead of just focusing on communication skills, EFT gets to the heart of the matter—your emotional connection and your bond—so you and your partner can rebuild trust, strengthen intimacy, and feel closer again. Unlike some approaches, EFT is not a teaching model. Instead, the emphasis is on facilitating you and your partner to have new, positive, corrective experiences together that put the strength of your bond in the driver’s seat.

Do you work with infidelity and affairs?

Yes I do, and I am proud to say this is an area where I am very experienced and comfortable working in. The aftermath of betrayal can be devastating and is almost always confusing for both partners to navigate on their own. I use a trauma-informed approach that is aimed at first achieving relative safety and stability in both partners, and then onward to restoring each of you as a source of comfort and motivation for one another on your shared journey of healing and deriving meaning from great pain.

Do you accept insurance?

I do not bill insurance directly, so I would be considered “out of network” by insurance providers. If you do wish to use insurance, I can provide a superbill you may submit for potential out-of-network reimbursement. This is different from an invoice and must be requested so that I can put the appropriate coding.

How do we get started?

You can schedule a session by the Portal or by sending a message through the Contact Form.

Do you offer a free introductory consultation?

While I completely understand and appreciate the desire for initial consultations prior to entering such a crucial service, I do not offer consultations at this time. The chief reason is that I lack the availability in my schedule and must keep the time I have available open for existing clients wishing to schedule. Instead, I encourage prospective clients to schedule an initial session with me with the understanding that they are not committing to more than one session. A first session with me is the best and most authentic way to truly experience what I have to offer.
